Other Things to Note

Keep the following tips in mind as you plan your stay. For the most enriching experience, these are our tips on how to experience Humboldt like a local.

  • Remember, you’re coming to a place where most people will know you’re a visitor (because we don’t recognize your face). For some folks, this can be a shock, especially if you’re used to the anonymity of the city.

Be aware of this, and treat the people you see as you would your neighbor. Smile as you pass them on the street, make eye contact, acknowledge your fellow human beings. We are all neighbors here on spaceship Earth.

  • The natural beauty we have here in Humboldt is unparalleled. Help us preserve and protect that natural beauty by remembering to leave no trace.

This includes cosmetics, sunscreens, and perfume. Don’t put it in the environment if it doesn’t belong there.

  • Whether you’re on the backroads or in town, drive slow and respectfully. Remember, life isn’t a race and you won’t win anything by getting there first. Enjoy the ride.
